“I think I can do this just as safely by breaking the rules.” —Famous last words and a fitting epitaph, by OceanGate’s CEO, Stockton Rush
Titanic Director, James Cameron, who visited the Titanic 33 times onboard a submersible and also holds a world record for the deepest dive ever at 35,787 ft in the Mariana Trench, has weighed in on the Titan disaster, saying, “I knew Titanic submarine imploded on Monday and rescue was a charade.”

bpd vinnie is soooo real omg so i was just wondering where it says it in canon? :o
these are from the Princeton tapes!!!
(in order: cold turkey (b), PJs, Morning, Jersey devil pt2, the stockton exchange)
I underlined some of them to point out specific wording too. like his mania!!!! he tends to experience highs and lows and he's constantly shifting around in what emotions he's feeling. During a manic episode, ppl with BPD might experience an extremely elevated or irritable mood. They may also experience having a lot of thoughts all at once and talking super fast.
In some of these I included his interactions w Roger, When Vinnie met Roger he didn't have Jeff or Evan anymore since they disappeared on him, and when Roger appears with answers or as close to answers as he can get Vinnie latches on IMMEDIATELY. He was so desperate for any kind of friend, any kind of interaction and he got it with Roger. You can see that Vinnie is happy when he's with him, and his headspace is clearly in a good place.
But the moment Roger leaves him alone, EVEN IF IT WAS JUST FOR 20 MINUTES, Vinnie could not TAKE IT. it was unexpected, he didn't know where he was, he had never been there before. He felt completely abandoned by Roger and you can see as the tapes go on how this affects how Vinnie treats him and how he thinks about Roger.
I think in this moment Vinnie started to split on Roger.
this is from camera obscura
Vinnie is now only convinced that Roger is exploiting him, and that Roger isn't that same guy who he met in the beginning. He can barely even stand talking to Roger at the end of the series, and it was honestly for Rogers benefit. He didn't want Roger to go through what he went through. (sucks that habit got him anyways)
so yyyyyeaahhhhh BPD VINNIE is REAL. AND NO ONE!! CAN TAKE THIS FROM ME

Hunter Thompson in Big Sur, 1961 Hunter Stockton Thompson (July 18, 1937 – February 20, 2005) was an American journalist and author. He rose to prominence with the publication of Hell's Angels (1967), a book for which he spent a year living with the Hells Angels motorcycle club to write a first-hand account of their lives and experiences. In 1970, he wrote an unconventional article titled "The Kentucky Derby Is Decadent and Depraved" for Scanlan's Monthly, which further raised his profile as a countercultural figure. It also set him on the path to establishing his own subgenre of New Journalism that he called "Gonzo", a journalistic style in which the writer becomes a central figure and participant in the events of the narrative. You Gotta Be Taken To Be Taken To
Tuesday June 20, 2017. 10:17 am
“Simplify.
Life is good.”
A man. Maybe 15 years older than me, wears this T shirt.
Yesterday, I simplified.
Life symbols
Jared.
My phone.
Today life is quiet
End of entry
Note 6/23/2024
6/20/2017 was my 62nd birthday.
The night before, Jared, a homeless heroin addict who I had met in Stockton 2 weeks before, and who had stayed in my house since then, walked off into the night with my I phone.
Next day. I’m in a long line at DMV to get my license renewed when I spotted the man and his T shirt saying that I mentioned in the 6/20/17 entry above..
I had no phone. I had quiet.
In liberating of my phone, Jared had given me, at least temporarily, the gift of silence and simplicity.
In my encounters with the homeless, including letting them stay with me in my house, I lost lap tops, I pads ,my car twice. But, they took me to places and they gave me insights I never would have known but for them. It was privilege to be allowed into their world. I finally came up with the following to explain the rational behind my homeless involvement ;
“You gotta be taken to be taken to."

American financier Jay Bloom offered 'last minute' discounted price to sit in doomed Titan submersible with his son - but he turned it down over safety concerns
An American tycoon has revealed a text exchange with submersible chief executive Stockton Rush, who tried to convince he and his young son to pay for a reduced six-figure seat to see the Titanic by telling him: "It was safer than crossing the street."
By David Wu
June 24, 2023
An American tycoon has revealed how submersible chief executive Stockton Rush tried to convince he and his son to buy two tickets on the doomed Titan vessel.
Financier Jay Bloom shared the text exchange with Mr Rush months before the CEO died with four other passengers when the craft suffered a "catastrophic implosion."
He tried to offer his friend a "last minute price" of $AUD225,000, with the original cost of the seat valued about $365,000 in April for an expedition the following month.
The first messages started as far back as February, when the chief executive wondered if there was an interest to see the famous shipwreck in the Atlantic Ocean.
Mr Bloom said his son Sean had been "put a little scare in him" after one of his friends researched the dangers of travelling in deep waters.
"I'm happy to have a video call with him. Curious what the uninformed would say the danger is and whether it's real or imagined," Mr Rush responded.
The financier said his son was worried about "perceived threats to the vessel," such as a sperm whale or a giant squid attack compromising Titan's hull.
"Yeah, very stupid. The pressure is over 100 million pounds. No sperm whale or squid is ever going to be able to mess with the sub," Mr Rush replied.
"While there's obviously risk, it's way safer than flying in a helicopter or even scuba diving. There hasn't been even an injury in 35 years in a non-military subs."
Three days later, Mr Rush would again try to reassure Mr Bloom and his son by sending a link to how deep sperm whales can go underwater.
Mr Bloom said he was not concerned about being eaten by a whale and decided to set up a Skype call, so his questions could be answered properly.
There would be limited text communication before Mr Rush sent a message on April 24, offering discounted tickets to see the Titanic wreck.
"Have a space on mission 1 (may 11-19) and 2 (may 20-28). Last minute price is $150k pp," the chief executive advised.
Mr Bloom said he would have to check his schedule to see if he could fit it in, as Mr Rush asked three days later: "Any luck?"
That trip would be later postponed to June 18 due to weather conditions.
Mr Bloom shared the messages to his Facebook page.
The financier even met face-to-face on March 1 with Mr Rush, who took him through the Titanic Exhibit at Luxor in Las Vegas before having lunch at a food court.
"He was absolutely convinced it was safer than crossing the street," Mr Bloom said on the post about his interactions with the creator of Titan.
Mr Rush also gave him a limited edition of a book of photos signed by him and French mariner Paul-Henri Nargeolet, 77, who was also aboard the submersible.
Mr Bloom advised he could not join them on the once-in-a-lifetime trip until 2024.
Their tickets were later sold to prominent Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son Suleman, the latter who was "terrified" to go.
The fifth person was adventurer and British billionaire Hamish Harding.
The five men entered Titan and started their 3,800m journey down to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean on Sunday morning.
However, less than two hours into the trip, mothership Polar Prince lost contact with the roughly six-metre long vessel, which sparked a large-scale international search.
The United States Coast Guard on Thursday (local time) confirmed pieces of debris found near the Titanic wreck belonged to the missing submersible.
"An ROV subsequently found additional debris, in consultation with experts from within the unified command, the debris is consistent with the catastrophic loss of the pressure chamber (of Titan)," Coast Guard Rear Admiral John Mauger told reporters.
Undersea expert Paul Hanken said five major different pieces of debris had led experts to conclude they were the remains of the OceanGate Expeditions craft.
"The initial thing we found was a nose cone, which was outside of the (Titan) pressure hull. We then found a large debris field and within that large debris field we found the front and back of the pressure hull," he said to reporters.
"Shortly thereafter, we found a second, smaller debris field and within that debris field we found the other end of the pressure hull.
"(It) ultimately contained the totality of that pressure vehicle. That was our first indication that there was a catastrophic event."
It was revealed the US Navy had detected an "anomaly consistent with implosion or explosion" where Titan was reported missing hours after the sub departed.
The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) of Canada announced on Friday (local time) it has launched an investigation, as Polar Prince was a Canadian-flagged ship.
A team of investigators will travel to St Johns in Canada's Newfoundland and Labrador where they will "gather information and conduct interviews."
It will also coordinate its operation with other agencies.
TSB will provide updates throughout the investigation.

“Not My Cup of Tea” will be touring around the UK, starting this time next year! (September 2025-May 2026) His first tour since 2019!
BLURB: "Josh Widdicombe is back on tour, not again! By now he has almost certainly mastered the art of stand-up, either that or he has wasted the last 15 years of his life. Come along and decide for yourself. Expect it to be shorter and with lower production values than Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, but funnier and with more references to tea."
---
Also, I’m sure this’ll be the FIRST LEG (ha!) of the tour, so hold onto your hats, he’ll likely come to a venue near you! Guessing due to Josh's popularity, thanks to Parenting Hell, demand for him will have gone up a bit since 2019. Good luck!
---
TICKET INFO/DATES, PRESS ETC, BELOW THE CUT.
TICKET ACCESS INFO:
PRICES: £31-£37 (according to the Liverpool Philharmonic, may vary depending on venue)

I'm sure I don't need to say it, and it's probably unlikely, but obviously... DON'T BUY FROM RESALE WEBSITES (Oasis say hi!). Do you want Hillsy calling you a dick??

Mistakes
Angel Reyes & EZ Reyes & OC Rosario 'Ro' Reyes From these August Prompts: “It's refreshing to finally see you make a mistake” A/N: Me??? Making another Reyes sister???? Because the 2 million I have aren't enough???? I will say it time and time again, I would have loved to see the main characters of SOA & Mayans have sister siblings and how that would have played out. Do I get why they didn't??? Yes but it won't stop me from making fanfiction versions of them have sisters!!!!! Word Count: 1.9k Warnings: Mentions of death, jail, guns, drinking. Angst. Mayans MC Taglist: @drabbles-mc @justreblogginfics @narcolini @danzer8705
It had been a while since the eldest Reyes came home. She didn’t have a schedule or routine in stopping by, most of her visits were unplanned and unannounced. Normally her visits just included a few hours with her Pops, enjoying the outdoors or watching TV, maybe dinner if she felt like staying a little longer. This time around was different though. As Rosario entered the back door to the house she went straight for the fridge, her eyes immediately fell on a case of beer that sat on the third shelf of the fridge. As she grabbed a bottle from the box, she heard her two younger siblings bickering in the living room. A smile formed on her face, ever since moving out years ago, getting her own house, hearing her brother's bicker was enjoyable verse what it used to be—annoying.
She decided to grab her beer and make her way silently to the open doorway that led into the living room, leaning against the frame with her arms crossed so she could sip the beer with ease as she enjoyed the free entertainment.
“Joining the club is a stupid fuckin’ idea, EZ.” Angel’s voice was firm.
“It’s done, Angel.” EZ’s voice was more neutral, like he had already come to terms with everything that Angel was struggling with.
“Ain’t shit done, you still need a sponsor.” Angel was getting angrier as the conversation continued.
“Just–just sit on it for a minute Angel, really think about it, it makes sense!” Now EZ was leaving his neutral ground and starting to fight for his side of the argument.
“You were looking at 20 years, bro. 20 fuckin’ years inside. And by some miracle you got out early. Go do something, man. Stockton State didn’t turn you into no fuckin’ gangster.” Angel was now giving up, he pushed past EZ to go turn the TV off that was likely on when Angel was the only person in the house.
“I just want to be home, Angel. Be with you and Pop. Be part of something. I know there’s a spot for me at the club, I’m smart, I’d be an asset.” EZ was begging in only a way EZ would, humble brag.
“Man, what the fuck does that mean?” Angel turned around now, his face scrunched up in a frown.
As he turned around his face immediately fell when he saw his big sister standing in the doorway watching everything unfold.
Rosario let her arm hold her beer and she clapped her hands together sarcastically at the show of events her little brothers just put on. EZ’s head snapped to look at her, his face falling pretty much the same as Angel's.
“Bra fuckin’ vo. Encore, encore!” Ro pushed off the wall and grabbed her beer as she approached both of them. “It’s refreshing to finally see you make a mistake.” Neither brother knew who she was actually speaking to since her eyes were on the carton of cigarettes that were on the coffee table next to the recliner. As she grabbed one cigarette with the hand that wasn’t holding the beer she stood back up, now between both brothers and let her gaze fall on EZ.
Angel’s mouth twisted up in the slightest smile when he realized who his sister was talking to. It wasn’t much, but he felt some sense of relief knowing for once he was right over EZ.
“See!” Angel extended his hand out to show how he knew he was right all along and that their older sister agreed with him.
“I make mistakes.” EZ frowned, not loving his sister's comments.
“Clearly.” She huffed out a laugh and made her way over to the front door to make herself comfy on one of the wicker pieces of furniture Felipe and Marisol decorated the porch with.
The brothers conversation must’ve continued inside for another 15 minutes, Ro heard muffles of their voices from outside choosing to ignore it and put her attention on the scenery around her as she smoked her cigarette. The birds, the sun setting, the cars pulling into driveways. The last one made her wonder. It made her mind go to each person that pulled into their home after working their society accepted jobs. Was it just her life that was this royally fucked up? Or did everyone in this town have something dirty to hide?
As her mind ran free her ears focused less and less on the conversation inside, it’s why when the front door opened, Ro’s neck snapped to look at who was exiting. EZ was closing the door behind him when he saw his big sister sitting there, he hadn’t thought she would be out here still and his facial expression said it all.
Looking out into the neighborhood he stood on the top step as he situated his riding gloves on. Despite him not even being in the club yet, he still went out and bought the bike. 30 seconds passed where neither of them said anything, Ro was wishing she still had her cigarette from earlier, give her something to pass the time. 30 seconds wasn’t long but when there was tension flying in the air it could make that time feel like triple that. Rosario wasn’t one to care about that though, her need for cigarettes in these moments was more of a fidgety thing than feeling the weight of what was really happening.
EZ on the other hand, that was eating him alive. “It’s not a mistake.”
Ro didn’t move her head to look at him, she just nodded in acceptance of what he said. Her brother was old enough to make his own decisions, he had been for years. EZ nodded once and made his way down the stairs to leave on his bike leaving his eldest sibling alone on the porch for a few more minutes until the middle Reyes sibling came out.
Angel stepped out onto the porch and looked directly at Rosario before making his way over to her on the seat next to her. His hand reached into his kutte and pulled out his carton of cigarettes she stole from earlier to offer her another. She thanked him, grabbed one and waited for him to pull his lighter out to light it for her.
“Thanks for that, by the way. It’s nice to have someone finally on my side.” Angel leaned back in his seat and exhaled his own cigarette.
“Dude, I’ve always had your back.” Her face twisted in disgust practically.
“What do you mean?” Angel snagged her beer from her and drank the rest of it.
Rosario shook her head and looked back out on the streets at the birds and the cars. “Since EZ was born, I saw it. How Pops treated him, how mom treated him. I knew he was special, I knew he was smart, but I saw what that did to you, how that made you struggle.”
“What are you saying, Ro?” Angel asked, still a little slow to what the girl was getting at.
She let out a chuckle. “I know I don’t take after mom, never did. The whole comfort and caring thing was never my strong suit. But I tried to stand up for you, take your side, be there for you in the way I knew I could.” She inhaled the cigarette, letting her legs move up against her chest as she sunk down a little more in the seat. “And look, I’ll fuckin’ deny I said this if you tell anyone but, I love you and I love EZ, you’re my little brothers, but Pops and Ma were so easy on him and so hard on you that I chose to be what both of you were lacking, what both of you needed. EZ needs someone to be hard on him, make him think twice. And don’t get me wrong, it’s fuckin’ hard when that motherfucker is so smart. But when the opportunities presented themselves, I took it.”
“I guess, I don’t really remember that.” Angel leaned back too.
“Of Course you don’t. It’s Angel’s world and we’re all just livin’ in it.” Rosario let out a laugh causing the smoke in her mouth to blow out.
“You don’t think E made a mistake shooting that cop?” The question out of Angel’s mouth was one he was sitting on since she made the mistake comment to EZ in the house, she could tell by how he asked.
“I think it was a mistake but it wasn’t refreshing.” She looked over at Angel, clarifying her statement from earlier. “Honestly, I think EZ going after whoever shot mom was a long time comin’, he thought he was right, never really been told he wasn’t. No one was going to stop him even if someone tried to stop him.”
Angel nodded knowing that last sentence was to relieve him of the guilt of giving him the gun.
“Ro?” Angel had his thinking face on, his eyebrows frowning and lips pursed out a little as he thought. “You happy?” He looked over at his sister. “You left the minute you could, you come back home every blue fuckin’ moon, I just– we don’t really ever get to talk.”
“You checkin’ in on me, hermanito?” Rosario’s arm moved forward to push him. Angel let out a laugh before pushing his sister's arms away. As she settled back in her seat, she sighed before speaking. “I left because I didn’t know how to be here anymore. I felt this dark cloud above me living here. I have my own with Pops–had my own shit with mom. It got better when I wasn’t here.”
“You didn’t answer my question.” Angel flicked his cigarette over the porch.
“I’m alright.” She looked over at him with a fake smile.
“I’ll take it.” Angel nodded in acceptance.
There were a few beats of silence, no cigarettes needed, it wasn’t a tense silence, just one of acceptance. The sun started to fade in the distance, the sound of the cicadas getting louder in the distance all while the chill breeze of the night started to sneak past both of them.
“When does he get his prospect kutte?” Rosario broke the silence with something she knew would shock Angel.
“How’d you know?” Angel looked over at her.
“Because I know both of my brothers. EZ, always right, never one to take no for an answer and you, Angel, the one who would do anything for either of your siblings.” Ro looked over at him now and they both stared at each other. “I knew the moment I heard you arguing that you’d end up sponsoring him. It’s not your fault, EZ puts up a good fight, makes good points, plus he’s the younger brother, uses those puppy dog eyes any chance he fuckin’ gets.”
“You think it’s a mistake?” Angel asked even though he knew the answer.
“I think everything any of us do in this town is a mistake. But hey, you can’t make the same mistake twice, they say,” Ro stood up from her seat and began walking back over to the front door, “something about the second time you make it, it's a choice!” Her voice got louder as she entered the house letting Angel sit with her last words on his own before she mumbled more under her breath.
“Or you end up dead before you even get the chance.”

June 1 -September 2, 2020
I bought a leather bound journal for $60 in 2020 and wrote in it “This edition of the Journals is the Protest edition.”
The following are entries from that journal. The journal entries run from June 1 to September 20, 2020.June 1- September 2, 2020 for me marked the end of the era of little money and time to myself when I needed it. The pandemic, Black lives mater protests and Trump were raging.
In late September 2020 I learned that I had been accepted to work as an appointed attorney for the Stockton courts. This meant I would have a steady income but a huge case load representing persons charged with crimes in San Joaquin County. .
Also, I had a continuing relationship with Martin Alan Cantwell (MAC) who at one time lived with me in my house in Modesto, California, but has been homeless since 2018.
So, that is the context in which the following entries were written:
__________________________________________-
June 1, 2020 Monday 7:27pm
MAC just called. He was hit in the head with a hammer.
Tires were stolen from the bike that I gave him.
A friend he is staying with was beaten at gun point. MAC was right there, his hands up.
MAC works for $30 a day, when he can, at a flee market.
He is waiting at a bus stop now, downtown (Modesto). Buses are free to ride the next few days.
MAC knows of no one that has Covid.
He saw his friend Boston today. (I had met Boston in the past when MAC had brought him to the house. They spent the night once in MAC’s car parked in front of my house).
MAC asked me “What are you doing?” Meaning “Can he come over?"
End of entry
What I'm thinking of doing is making this an ongoing series of blogs focused on the year 2020. I will continue to blog on other issues unrelated to 2020 as well. I just think that 2020 was an amazing time worth a look back at. So, I will see how it goes.
MAC and I are still in contact with each other. I first met him in 2010. He lived with me off and on in my house until late 2014 when he moved in with his Mother. He has been homeless since 2018. His experiences on the street have been from heart breaking to heroic. He is an amazing man to have been able to survive and even in an odd way thrive out there. He has a sweet peacefulness about him that most of my homed friends don't seem to have.
